Do i have arthritis? im only 19!?
I have had problems with my knees scince i was about 11 years old and my my mum always put it down to having growing pains.
i get extreme pain in my knees when its quite cold or i walk alot or sometimes nothing at all! normally at night when it happens i CANNOT fall asleep without a elasticated strap on my knee. but when i dont it travells up my leg and hurts my hip too.
its like an aching, painful cramps, which makes you wince and want to move around because of the pain!
please help what could it be????
at about 12 years old i was diagnosed with hyperextension.

Since you have had this since you were eleven it make me think that it could be a few things. One of them is where there is a bump at the top of the shin bone. If that is the case then it is just a matter of strengthening your muscles. The condition is called Osgood Scholters Disease. Sorry as I cannot remember the exact spelling of Schloters. What is your weight like? If you are over weight then it might be Patellofemoral Joint Dysfunction. This is where the kneecap doesn't ride correctly in the groove of the knee. Again exercise with a physical therapist would help this. Lastly there is the possibility that it is a tendinitis. This would also respond to treatment with a therapist. Go see a family doctor to start with and ask for a referral to a therapist if they think it would be beneficial
